I've actually been really tempted to look at Ls400's as a commuter, but then I realize that 19-20 mpg isn't much better than 13-14. Its better, but not better enough.

I paid $600 for my DD 96 Legacy that had brought me across the country a few times on PCS. Its a 5speed and gets good MPG. No need for a Luxo barge here.

Because I want to be uncomfortable. A car with a/c, lack of wind noise, comfortable suspension, non-leaking roof, cruise control, seats with some modicum of support, trunk that holds more than a bag of groceries, and quiet exhaust is for the weak.

My friend has a 1999 LS with 80k miles, just got all major maintenance done and now he keeps telling me how he wants to get rid of it (starter just went out, he just replaced the alternator last month) but I keep telling him just get an exterior/interior detail done and keep it, that thing hasn't even broke 100k and has gotten all major servicing done. If he keeps talking about it I might just want to take it off his hands for a beater car.

Third car is likely to be not street legal. Technically my AW11 isn't street legal since it doesn't have a cat or baffles and I ganked most of the emissions controls, but car three would be really not street legal as in a single seater.

I am in no way opposed to a good manual mode equipped auto. I like manual so I can control the transmission. In a PDK or M DCT where that is possible, I'd happily compromise. In a 4 speed autotragic 90s Lexus? Fuuuuuck nah.
